On September 2-3, 2024, the China General Machinery Industry Association convened a prototype appraisal meeting in Wujiang District, Suzhou City. The meeting reviewed the “Hualong One Main Steam Safety Valve and Nuclear Island System Safety Valve Prototypes” jointly developed by China General Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and Wujiang Dongwu Machinery Co., Ltd., as well as the “Key Components Prototype for Spent Fuel Storage Equipment” jointly developed by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and Wujiang Dongwu Machinery Co., Ltd. The appraisal committee, comprising experts from the China Machinery Industry Federation, Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., China Nuclear Engineering Co., Ltd., China Machinery Productivity Promotion Center Co., Ltd., East China University of Science and Technology, and other organizations, reviewed the development summary report. They inspected production and testing sites, observed partial prototype testing, examined relevant design, manufacturing, inspection, testing, and quality assurance documentation, and conducted inquiries and discussions. The committee experts concluded that the prototype features rational design, appropriate material selection, and excellent performance, fully meeting the requirements of the development specifications. The development unit demonstrated strong R&D capabilities, comprehensive manufacturing processes and equipment, well-equipped testing facilities, and an effectively operating nuclear quality assurance system, possessing the capacity for mass production. The committee unanimously approved the prototype.
The developed Hualong One main steam safety valves, nuclear island system safety valves, and key components for spent fuel storage equipment possess independent intellectual property rights. Their primary performance indicators reach internationally advanced levels, with the key components for spent fuel storage equipment filling a domestic technological gap. These products are suitable for widespread application and offer significant social and economic benefits.
